i need to buy some of those airtight vacuum sealed storage bags that you can put a bunch of clothes in. i am NOT a light packer, and I’m about to go to the beach and we have limited space in the vehicle, so i can only take one medium suitcase. Does anybody know of a store like walmart where i can get these for no more than ?

love pillows, blankets and comforters, but now I have the problem of storage. I’m looking for one of those vacuum-type storage things. I’ve read that there are cheap ones that do not do the job well, so I want to be sure to research before I invest. Don’t the really good ones cost quite a bit?
If you have, or know someone who has one of these, please let me know: what kind, where did you get it, how much ( and how much are the storage bags), and mostly -is it effective?

I have an array of vegetable and herb seeds. I was wondering how to store them long term. Understand they need to be in a cool, dark, and dry place.

Does anyone vacuum seal them? What if i vacuum seal all of them and put them in a cool, dark, dry, place?

Do the seeds need oxygen to survive? I read online that you can vacuum seal them. But then in one thread some lady said they need oxygen. I don’t think it was all that reliable, but just curious.

So, vacuum sealing is supposed to preserve items much longer, as air can cause things to spoil.
Is this the same with seeds?

To vacuum seal, or not to?? Also, will vacuum sealing preserve them longer if so? Compared to a regular plastic bag?

I need a question answered. I have been preparing long term food storage for my family. I use a food saver vacuum seal, oxy absorbers, and mylar bags for all my food. The way I do it now is I stick a strip of thin fiberglass screen inside the bag, to get the food saver to suck the o2 out of it. Will the screen hurt the food at all? Thank you.

I bought a bulk pack of bacon some time ago (not sure how long ago). It is a 3 pound vacuum packed package. I put it in the freezer as soon as I bought it. I just took it out and it says use or freeze by Feb. 2011. It’s now 8 months past the use by date if unfrozen. But since it’s been frozen since well before the use by date, is it still good?
