Can I eat ground beef that has been thawing in the refrigerator in a vacuum sealed package for 6 days?

I have read that when in normal packaging it should be eaten within two days, but since this is vacuum-sealed, is it alright six days later?

Are there stronger bags for my vacuum sealer? I keep getting holes in my current ones.?

I’ve just purchased a vacuum sealer, as I am going on a hike and need to keep all my dehydrated food dry before I need it on the walk, but because all my food is dehydrated (eg. mince beef, fruit, veggies) it is quite sharp and poking holes through my vacuum bags?
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on where I can get stronger bags that are not too bulky? (Using boxes is not an option as it will be too hard to carry with me while hiking)

Note: I have tried putting paper towel, baking paper and also aluminum foil inside the bags before sealing and still holes form from the pressure of sucking the air out.

What would be the best equipment (+ ease of use) to clean a Food Packaging Machine?

What would be the best equipment (+ ease of use) to clean a Food Packaging Machine?
packaging machines which automatically vacuum wrap food-put lids on jars-labels on jars etc etc with food that contains an abundance of sunflower oil.Forget cleaning these machines by hand as it would take years! There must be some sort of "portable" steam jet pistol rinse water type of invention out there??

Vacuumed sealed lunch meat question?

My house lost power during hurricane irene. At that time, I had two unopened, vacuumed sealed packages of lunch meat I take to work for the week. During the power outage, we tried to keep the refrigerator door closed as long as possible. After day 1 of the power outage, we set up a few ice pods to preserve whatever we could like juice, milk and the packaged meats. It was made known to us we weren’t going to get power back for a few more days so we took the meats to our relatives house and kept them there in their refrigerators. All during this time, neither house lost power at any point.

I opened one of the packages today for lunch; I did not smell anything foul from the container nor did i notice any questionable colors. The one thing i did notice was a little white film along the edge of some of the slices.

I didn’t eat the slices but can anyone tell me if the lunch meat has gone bad? what and where did the white film come from?

thanks

What's the best way to store dried herbs like basil and sage? How long will they last?

Planted small sage and basil plants, and they just took off.

There’s a good bit, but I’m not sure what the best way to store them is?
Don’t really have a lot of room either.

I was thinking jars maybe that I could get at walmart, but I’d probably have to get a lot.

I could grind it up, but then I’d have to clean the grinder in between grindings.

I thought about vacuum sealed bags though, they’re large and can hold a lot more than a jar, and takes up less space since the bag just surrounds the herbs.

and then there’s just plain tupperware. Like plastic containers.

What do you guys think?

How long does smoked salmon stay good when refrigerated in a vacuum sealed package?

The salmon were caught and smoked fresh by my dad on July 23rd. A few packages were frozen and moved into the refrigerator early August. I just found a package at the back of the fridge, and now I want to eat it! :P
So, is it still good to eat?
btw; like mentioned in the actual question, the package is vacuum sealed.
