I bought it about 9:00 in the evening and accidentally left it sitting on my counter till I woke up at about 7:00 in the morning. The package is an unopened tightly sealed vacuum pack and I put it in the fridge as soon as I found it. Do you think it’s ok to still use the bacon?
So, my fiance’s mother is CONSTANTLY giving us crap from her freezer… most of the time it is mysterious ice coated meat chunks in ziplock baggies that we politely throw away when we get home. Last night she gave us some bacon that was still in its original vacuum pack, and therefore not freezer burned and still looking quite like bacon. The expiration date on this stuff is Aug 2006, but I have no idea how long it was frozen before that (hopefully it wasn’t frozen after).
I read in our FoodSaver vacuum sealer instruction manual that frozen pork lasts for 6 months usually, but when vacuum sealed it lasts 2-3 years. Do you think that the generic "pork" header would include bacon?
I guess it would also be important to know how long the time period between packaging and the printed expiration date is. I think I have bought bacon maybe once or twice my entire life!

More specifically chicken breasts and hamburger patties.
They are all individually vacuum packed. It comes fresh from the local meat store with a 1 week expiration date (guaranteed fresh for 1 week), I open the package, vacuum pack individual patties / breasts for easy cooking in the future.
How long can I keep it in the freezer without it going bad? More than a week, I hope (since the package is now actually FROZEN, and is vacuum packed)?
